[WLRC Feb 2024]: A Team led by Dr. Bejamin Machar, Interim Director of Institute of Water Studies, Juba University, Deng Abraham, Interim Assistant Director of the Institute of Water Studies, Juba University, Abraham Fisahatsion, Interim Assistant and Achai Kuol Nyok, Interim Assistant Director for Communications at the Institute of Water Studies, the University of Juba paid an experience-sharing visit to Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) on Wednesday the 28th of Feb 2024. Benjamin explained the purpose of their visit was to learn from WLRC and other like-minded institutions in Africa about their organizational structure, staff composition, work flow, and successes and challenges with the intension to draw lessons that would inform the IWS, which they said was under formation. Further to their verbal briefs, Benjamin presented the conceptual organizational map, the vision, and objectives of their proposed IWS.
Then, Dr. Gete Zelele, WLRC Director General, presented to them about WLRC focusing on its history and formation, organizational structure, vision and mission, staff size and profile, functional arrangement, entities, projects executed thus far, and success stories and challenges. Members of the WLRC Management Committee also appreciated the Team’s initiative to learn from African institutions and enriched the presentations through discussions.
The visiting Team was so thrilled with the contents delivered to them through the presentation, discussions and reading materials. They also thanked for the kind receptions accorded to them. They further expressed interest to take up Dr. Gete’s offer for a visit to some of the Learning Watersheds when the security situation in the Amhara Region would be peaceful.
