Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), in collaboration with Ethiopian Forest Development (EFD) and the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA), organized a training and consultative workshop on “Traceability Systems and Landscape Approaches for Sustainable Coffee Trade: Capturing and Reclaiming Value in the Global South (CARE for Value and Sustainability)” project.
Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), officially launched the Basin Management Support for Resilient, Inclusive Growth, and Harmonized Transformation for the National Integrated Water Resource Management Program of Ethiopia (BRIGHT) Project for the Omo-Gibe Basin on the 21st of March 2025 at Haile Resort Jimma.
The Water and Land Resources Centre Management and staff colourfully celebrated the International Women’s Day (IWD), under this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action” for Gender Equality!
Following the approval, by the WLRC Management, of the newly developed automated Program and Operations Management System (POMS) early February 2025, the ICT Team of the Centre successfully conducted a training session for all staff members on the Software. The training, conducted Feb. 17 – 20, 2025 in two batches at the WLRC Meeting Hall, was designed to familiarize the staff with the software’s purpose, features, key functionalities, and usage steps with guidelines.
In the month of December 2024, 10 thematic groups of the BRIGHT project conducted workshops aimed at refining Terms of joint Engagement (ToJE), and finetuning prioritized operational plans and fostering joint actions within its 10 thematic areas. The workshops also focused on strengthening team capacity to move towards effective implementation.
The Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC) held a high-level induction and evaluation meeting with the European Union (EU) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) Addis Ababa on November 27, 2024. The meeting, held at the WLRC Meeting Hall, aimed to assess progress made and challenges faced in the Inception Phase of the BRIGHT project activities, and the ways forward.

The Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) in collaboration with Ethiopian Forestry Development (EFD) recently conducted a training workshop on using Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS)-assisted data capturing and analysis for coffee traceability.
Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC), in collaboration with Ethiopia Forest Development (EFD), conducted a comprehensive reconnaissance survey across various woredas in the Gedeo Zone’s Yirgachefe area, South Ethiopia. Held from September 24-26, 2024, the survey explored Gedeo’s rich coffee-producing landscape, including forest and semi-forest coffee areas, coffee cooperatives, unions, and local processing practices, to lay the groundwork for the CARE for Value and Sustainability Project.
