[July 5, 2026 Wedecha] Water and Land Resource Centre, as part of its Integrated Livelihoods Improvement Program under the BRIGHT Project, distributed 100 layer chicken to two selected households in Adea Woreda of Awash Basin. Fifty (50) of the egg-layer chicken were provided to Alem Bedada’s household in Godino Kebele, and another 50 were delivered to Dechasa Moges in Keteba Kebele.
The handover was supervised by W/ro Birhane Biruk, Head of the Adea Woreda Livestock Department, and Dr. Olyad Tesfaye, Animal Health Expert, who reaffirmed the importance of proper poultry health management and technical support to ensure the success of the initiative.
As the next phase of the intervention, ponds established for the participating households will be filled with water and stocked with fish, enabling beneficiaries to fully implement integrated poultry–fish–small-scale irrigation farming system and enhance climate resilience livelihoods.
