[April 25/2026, Infranze Catchment]Capacity development training on improved cook stove design, use, and promotion in the Infranze catchment, Abbay Basin, was conducted 25th and 26th April, Bahir Dar as part of IWRM implementation under the BRIGHT project. The training was given to 51 participants, including energy and stove experts from local stove producers, and gender experts from Infranze Catchment (Regional, Zone, and Wereda level Water and Energy Bureau and Women and Social Affairs), and Abbay BAO experts . The objective of the training was to strengthen the capacity of improved cook stove experts, producers, and users through a gender-responsive capacity development that promotes the adoption of culturally appropriate, energy-efficient stoves, thereby reducing firewood consumption, improving women’s livelihoods, and contributing to catchment restoration and IWRM. The improved version of Effoy stove (designed for cooking purposes) was introduced, and practical training and production were done at the stove production site in Bahir Dar.
