The Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), organized a high-level side event during the Second African Climate Summit, held at the International Convention Centre in Addis Ababa from 8–10 September 2025.
Water and Land Resources Centre (WLRC) and the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) organised and facilitated a four-day workshop on validation of the Hare Catchment baseline situations assessment findings and the proposed interventions, financed by the Basin Management Support for Resilient, Inclusive Growth and Harmonized Transformation for the National IWRM Programme of Ethiopia (BRIGHT) Project. The workshop was held at Haile Resort, Arba Minch, from September 1 to 4, 2025.
An event where African Hydrogeologists across borders connected to discuss Africa’s most pressing groundwater challenges under the theme “Uniting Groundwater Research, Innovation, and Collaboration for Water Security in Africa,” was conducted from 28th- 30th Aug over Zoom.
The BRIGHT Project conducted Induction Workshop to the National Taskforce to Strengthen Groundwater Data Management. The workshop was conducted on Aug. 2nd, 2025, at Yod Abyssinia Hotel, to validate and standardize the nation’s groundwater data for integration into national water management platforms, a crucial step in modernizing Ethiopia’s groundwater data systems.
The Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) conducted a two-day internal validation workshop on findings and suggested interventions for the Hare Catchment Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Baseline Situation Assessment from July 31st and 1st Aug, 2025
The BRIGHT Project conducted a hands-on training on using Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) technology for hydrological monitoring from July 21–25, 2025, at the Adama Harnis Hotel.
The Geo-spatial team of WLRC, in collaboration with the Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) and Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority (ECTA) facilitated a ToT on spatial data collection from coffee production plots to zonal and regional experts and officials of Jimma and Sidama Zones.
Induction Training on Basin Plan Preparation and Revision Guidelines for WLRC /BRIGHT Staff is underway from 21-22, 2025, Haile Grand Hotel, Addis Ababa.
Multi-disciplinary teams from the Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), the Rift Valley Lakes Basin (RVLB), and sector offices from Gamo Zone and Chencha, Dita and Arba-Minch Zuria weredas conducted extensive biophysical and socio-economic baseline assessments in the Hare Catchment.
