A team of the Traceability Systems and Landscape Approaches for Sustainable Coffee Trade: Capturing and Reclaiming Value in the Global South (CARE for Value and Sustainability) project visited the Yirgacheffe coffee producing area in Gedeo Zone from November 4–6, 2025.

The Geo-spatial team of WLRC, in collaboration with the Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) and Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority (ECTA) facilitated a ToT on spatial data collection from coffee production plots to zonal and regional experts and officials of Jimma and Sidama Zones.

Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC), in collaboration with Ethiopia Forest Development (EFD), conducted a comprehensive reconnaissance survey across various woredas in the Gedeo Zone’s Yirgachefe area, South Ethiopia. Held from September 24-26, 2024, the survey explored Gedeo’s rich coffee-producing landscape, including forest and semi-forest coffee areas, coffee cooperatives, unions, and local processing practices, to lay the groundwork for the CARE for Value and Sustainability Project.
