Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to integrate an exit strategy and performance assessment guideline published in May 2011 into the existing SLM initiative in the country with special focus to SLMP. It is believed that the integration of an inbuilt exit strategy and performance assessment for watershed development based on the guideline will improve efficiency and impact of external support. As this exit strategy has a significant importance to achieve sustainability of all measures taken during the implementation of activities in the scope of the SLMP, the milestones along with the watershed development process to be used for measurement of achievements and successively allow a suitable adjustment of external support.
Key activities
Establish an institutional collaborations for a joint development and exemplary implementation of an integrated Exit Strategy and Performance Assessment for Watershed Development in Ethiopia to improve efficiency and impact of external support in the scope of the Ethiopian Sustainable Land Management Programme (SLMP)
Revise and publish the exit strategy and performance assessment guideline for watershed development;
Practically apply the exit strategy and performance assessment guidelines as a learning exercise in 18 watersheds supported through CIDA funding in the Amhara, Oromia and Tigray regions.
Build capacities of relevant implementing bodies and their staff to systematically conduct the performance assessments and analyse results for steering of external support.
Organize forums for experience sharing on exit strategy and performance assessment
