acadamia 2030A platform for sharing results of Academy 2030 Project, to which Water and Land Resource Centre is party and collaborator, is launched online by Center for Development and Environment (CDE) of University of Bern, Switzerland. CDE announces that the Platform https://academy2030.org/ is now online with an entry on the CDE homepage/news and through social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).

  • University of Oxford-led REACH programme, which is funded by UK Aid Direct from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, publishes its interdisciplinary Water Security for Climate Resilience Report
  • Findings include less visible climate change impacts, including gendered impacts and those on children, as well as the immediate impacts of droughts and floods
  • Report makes specific recommendations to increase resilience in water systems
  • Follows recent WHO and UNICEF warning that billions worldwide will be without safely managed household drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services in 2030, missing a UN sustainable development goal – unless the rate of progress quadruples

GCRFThe Second annual assembly meeting of the Water Security and Sustainable Development HUB project held at Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia February 24-28, 2020. The project is a UKRI funded GCRF project where Newcastle University is coordinating as a HQ and University of Leeds and Oxford collaborates in the research activities in the four Collaboratory countries namely: Colombia, Ethiopia, India and Malaysia.
