[07 Oct. 25] – The Kunzila Integrated Landscape Management and WASH (KILMWA) Project Steering Committee (PSC) in the second of its bi-annual meeting , held on October 6, 2025, at the Haile Grand Hotel in Addis Ababa approved a two-year ‘No-Cost Extension’ for the project, which has been in progress since 2020. The PSC is composed of key stakeholders and partners, and co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Deres Sahilu, Head of the Regional Bureau of Agriculture & Vice President of the Amhara National Regional State, wherein the project is implemented. The Committee reviewed the project’s progress amidst the significant socio-political and security challenges faced since its inception. and it recognized the notable achievements made by WLRC and SNV through conflict-sensitive adaptive planning. H.E. Mrs. Paula Schendeler, Deputy Head of Mission & Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, applauded the implementers and stakeholders for the commendable job they did to take the project to fruition under those stressful situations.

Then, the Main Implementer WLRC and the Co-Implementer SNV presented their requests and plans of outstanding actions to be pursued during the extension. The PSC reviewed the request and the presented detailed annual plans and unanimously approved the ‘No-Cost Extension’ for the period of July 2025 to June 2027. WLRC and SNV officials duly acknowledged the EKN for funding the project and the PSC for the continued support to the project and the rational approval of the ‘No-cost Extension’, adding that the decision would enable the project to diligently achieve its set objectives with the remaining portion of the project fund.
