Regional Training Conducted on Agricultural Water Management Toolbox

  [May 2026 Addis Ababa ]— A regional training on the WATDEV Toolbox for agricultural water management was held from May 5th – 7th, 2026, at Capital Hotel, Addis Ababa, bringing together decision-makers and technical experts from Kenya, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, and regions of Ethiopia Organized under the WATDEV project, the training aims to strengthen the capacity of planners and policymakers to use modelling tools for evidence-based decision-making in water and agriculture. The hands-on training focuses on assessing environmental and socio-economic impacts of different management practices, comparing intervention scenarios, and interpreting model outputs to support planning and investment decisions. It also aims to improve capacity of institutions to apply the Toolbox in real-world contexts, enhanced integration of scientific tools into policy processes, and practical user feedback to further refine the system. The training is part of a broader regional effort to promote sustainable and climate-resilient water management across East Africa.
