[August 07–08, 2026, Bahir Dar]: The WLRC-BRIGHT Project conducted The two-day training program aligned technical teams and stakeholders across five core thematic areas: Biophysical, Water System and Climate, Water Use Management and Infrastructure, Socio-economic, and Institutional and Legal Framework. From WLRC management members, thematic leaders, and technical experts; MOWE delegates and Core team members from three regional state sectors, Universities, Branch Offices and Basin Office staffs were attended the event. Participants established standardized assessment methodologies, reviewed data collection protocols, and synchronized workflows across these distinct disciplines. The successful completion of this induction training ensures a highly integrated, multi-sectorial approach and sets a solid operational foundation for the upcoming baseline situation assessment.
The training began with a recap of past technical audits, resource mappings, and stakeholder achievements, challenges, and lessons. It then covered a Strategic Assessment (SA) overview, an integrated approach split between 60% desk work and 40% field work, a situation analysis for the Abbay Basin, and thematic-level induction training, co-planning, and scheduling.
