[WLRC, 05 Feb. 26] The Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), has officially commenced a start-up workshop on the preparation of Ethiopia’s National Water Allocation Guidelines. The Workshop is taking place from 05–07 February 2026 at Getfam Hotel, Addis Ababa.
The workshop features technical presentations, plenary discussions, facilitated group work, scenario-based allocation exercises, and consensus-building sessions. It brought together 20 participants from key stakeholders in IWRM, such as MoWE, universities, the Oromia River Basin Water Bureau, and Basin Administration offices, to jointly redevelop the national water allocation guideline through a structured, participatory, and evidence-based process aligned with Ethiopia’s legal, institutional, and basin-based water resources management framework. The initiative aims to support equitable, efficient, and sustainable water allocation across the country.
