[July 23–24, 2026, Bonga] – The Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC), through the BRIGHT Project, conducted a two-day awareness creation and capacity-building workshop to strengthen participatory natural resource governance and promote sustainable forest management in the Woshi Catchment.
The workshop brought together stakeholders from national, regional, zonal, and woreda judicial and executive organs to enhance coordination among institutions, clarify roles and responsibilities, and align Participatory Forest Management (PFM) activities with the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
Discussions focused on community bylaws, legal and institutional frameworks for natural resource management, the role of Hybrid PFM Committees, and the contribution of the Kaffa Zone’s traditional Mekricho system in conflict resolution and resource governance.
