A two-day training on the newly developed Water e-Permit system was facilitated at Getfam Hotel, Addis Ababa. Welcoming the training participants, Ato Debebe Defersso, Water Resources Management Lead Executive Officer at MoWE, remarked that the training is important to build the capacity of participants on operational use of the e-Permit system, administrative and configuration tasks, and IT support for sustainable implementation. According to Dr. Adey Nigatu, Climate Risk Management Director at WLRC, the training will enhance trainees skills in processing water permits efficiently, ensuring accurate data entry, improving reporting and monitoring, and supporting system administration and maintenance. To that effect, the training combined presentations, hands-on practical sessions, small group exercises, and interactive discussions, followed by a practical assessment to reinforce learning. Trainees were 24 water permit experts, IT professionals, and water resources specialists drawn from the Ministry of Water and Energy, including Basin Administration Offices, Regional Water Bureaus and organisers from WLRC.
