Capacity development training on improved cook stove design, use, and promotion conducted at Woshi catchment, Omo-Gibe Basin

The Water and Land Resource Centre, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy, conducted a three-day capacity development training on energy-efficient improved cook stove design, utilization, and promotion to support forest conservation and strengthen Integrated Water Resources Management in the Woshi Catchment.

Modjo River’s Only Gauging Station, Threatened by Unregulated Sand Mining, Rehabilitated

“The only gauging station on the Modjo River was gradually buried due to excessive sediment build-up linked to unregulated sand mining and altered river flow conditions caused by a nearby water passage structure, which has created a backwater effect that traps water upstream, while sand mining activities downstream are discharging large amounts of sediment into the river”, resents Dr. Ermias Teferi Water Division Director at WLRC.
