[May 21-22/2026, Bahir Dar] As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of the Infranze Irrigation Scheme, the Irrigation Water Users Association (IWUA) has been formally re-established, marking an important step toward strengthening local water governance and improving irrigation management. The comprehensive training was conducted for both technical staff and new IWUA members, focusing on the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and robust governance frameworks. Participants also appreciated the practical guidance on the implementation of rules, regulations, and organizational bylaws that govern water allocation and management within the irrigation scheme. The sessions emphasized the importance of transparent decision-making, collective responsibility, and adherence to agreed procedures to ensure fair and efficient water distribution among users.
