Since WLRC, MoWE, the RVLB, Gamo Zone Water and Agric Sector Departments, Wereda Offices and local communities started jointly implementing ILM interventions two months back, the field realities witness massive participation of the youth in the Hare lower catchments where the BRIGHT project is being implemented.
In Chano Cheliba, Chano Milie, Chano Dorga, and Qolla Shara kebeles where massive deep gullies were formed by floods and land degradation and siltation threatened not only local communities wellbeing and livelihoods but also the sustainability of the Abaya and Chamo lakes, the youth account the majority of the people who turnout and engage in the daily ILM activities. That followed from three weeks of community consultation and mobilisation works done by the BRIGHT Project Team together with the local administration and community members.
