The Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE), is convening a five-day national write-shop from March 2–6, 2026, in Bishoftu Town to develop key technical standards for Ethiopia’s hydrological monitoring system.

The session focuses on drafting three foundational documents: Drthe Hydrological Station Standard, the Operational Hydrology Manual, and the Hydrology Guideline. These instruments are intended to harmonize monitoring practices, improve data quality, and strengthen water resource planning, flood forecasting, and drought management nationwide.

Supported under the BRIGHT Project and coordinated with CR-WASH, the initiative marks an important step toward establishing reliable, standardized hydrological data systems to support Ethiopia’s long-term water security.
