Progress continues under the BRIGHT Project as preliminary and preparatory activities for upcoming hydrology and water supply interventions show positive momentum in Chencha Zuriya Woreda. While procurement and delivery of essential materials for the rehabilitation and development of water supply infrastructure are on progress, groundwork activities have already begun. Institutional and community consultations have been conducted across multiple kebeles, ensuring strong community engagement, ownership, and cooperation. Written confirmation letters have also been secured from community representatives, formalizing their commitment to participation and local contributions once implementation begins.
A notable example of this early progress is the start of pipeline trench excavation along the planned pipeline route in Shama Kebele—initiated by community members themselves. This proactive involvement highlights the community’s readiness to collaborate with the BRIGHT Project to restore and expand access to safe water. Local leaders affirm that such early mobilization reflects the community’s strong motivation and confidence in the upcoming water supply improvements, marking an important step toward sustainable and reliable water access for households across the woreda.
