[July 20–21 2026, Bonga] A two-day training workshop on the Water Audit Information System (WAIS) was conducted at Bonga town to strengthen digital water data collection and support improved water resource management in the Omo-Ghibe Basin.
The training brought together field data collectors from 32 woredas of the South-West Ethiopia Regional State and focused on building practical skills in digital data collection, system operation, and water asset inventory management.
Implemented under the BRIGHT Project, WAIS is a key component of Ethiopia’s Basin Information System, designed to establish a verified digital database of water infrastructure and usage patterns. The system will provide essential information for basin planning, water allocation, and evidence-based decision-making.
