WLRC conducted a three-days induction workshop to the recently mobilised project management and administration staff (namely: Resident Basin Coordinators (RBCs) for the five basins, Project Coordination Unit (PCU) Coordinator placed at the MoWE, Assist. Project and Partnerships Manager, and Accountant), entrusted with the duties and responsibilities to facilitate successful implementation of the Basin Management Support for Resilient, Inclusive Growth and Harmonized Transformation (BRIGHT) project, which WLRC is implementing with Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) and Basin Administration Offices (BAOs).
The whole purpose of the Induction was to furnish the new staff members with knowledge and information about WLRC in general and BRIGHT Project in particular and thereby enable the project staff to facilitate seamless and prudent implementation of the BRIGHT Project.
Held 5 – 7 Feb. 2025 at WLRC Meeting Hall, the Induction Workshop provided an in-depth orientation on WLRC, its works, and organisational culture; key operational policies, collaborative frameworks, and basin management strategies. Sessions covered WLRC’s organizational structure, human resources, finance, and procurement guidelines, along with training on the Basin Information System (BIS) and gender-inclusive governance approaches. Also the project MELA and Communication Frameworks, PIM, and Project and Operation Management System were presented. Discussions also focused on basin management planning, water permit systems, tariff structures, and conservation efforts, ensuring the new coordinators are well-prepared to oversee sustainable water resource management in their respective regions.
Finally, the WLRC Executive and Management Team encouraged the project staff to do their best for the success of the Project and expressed the management’s commitment to extend all the support needed for their pursuit of the project activities.
