[June 2026 | Dita Woreda, Gamo Zone] – A clean drinking water supply project constructed by the BRIGHT Project in Dokama Kebele, Dita Woreda, was inaugurated, providing a safe water supply to 1,482 residents. Built at a cost of ETB 2.1 million, the project is expected to improve community health, reduce the burden of water collection on women and children, and enhance local livelihoods.
Representing the Gamo Zone Water and Energy Department, Ato Mesele Aynalem stated that the BRIGHT Project continues to play an important role in expanding access to clean water across the zone, thereby easing the workload of women and children.
Dr. Yilkal Anteneh, Hare Catchment Restoration interventions Coordinator, explained that the project was implemented through a partnership between the BRIGHT Project, local and zonal administration, and the local community, with the community contributing ETB 550,000 toward the total cost. He emphasised the project’s significance to improve livelihoods and strengthen resilience in the watershed.
Officials and community members called for the proper management and maintenance of the facility to ensure its sustainability and long-term benefits.
